Sarah and Aylin both had international upbringings, shaped by frequent moves driven by their parents’ careers. Growing up in cities like Lahore, Brussels, and Bangkok sparked an early interest in diverse cultures, languages, and ways of life. After college, Sarah moved to Russia and Aylin to Senegal, later completing graduate studies and settling in Washington, D.C. Their participation in programs like Fulbright, AFS Intercultural Programs, and the School for International Training deepened their interest in research and grounded a lifelong commitment to social justice.

In 2005, they met at a global research firm called InterMedia.
There, they spent years managing large-scale qualitative and quantitative fieldwork across the world. Between them, they traveled to nearly 40 countries, spending weeks at a time overseeing national surveys and sitting in on focus groups in both remote villages and bustling cities. These years were formative, not just for building technical expertise, but for cultivating long-term relationships with field teams and learning how to do research that is both rigorous and respectful.
Eventually, they moved on to their own consulting practices: Sarah with a focus on quantitative audience research, and Aylin on evaluation for international development partners. As their practices grew, they began to collaborate again, recognizing how complementary their strengths were and how aligned their values had remained.
The word "Evrima" originates from Ancient Greek and means "discovery".
That collaboration eventually became Evrima.
Sarah and Aylin founded the firm in 2017 with a shared belief that ethical, well-executed research is not only a tool for decision-making, but a process that can empower those who participate and contribute to positive social change.
Fast forward to today, Evrima has supported dozens of mission-driven projects around the world, including for government agencies, non-profits, and philanthropies, through research focused on public opinion and audience engagement, media and disinformation, climate change, as well as democracy and human rights.
